Police compliant & applying for replacement cards. You are good.
If you need to travel outside USA, you can get your passport stamped stating that you have a GC. That should your travel needs. Now a days, replacement cards are very fast. You should be able to get them in 3 months period. Do not try to give false information to USCIS (Some one suggested you in this group)

I am July 23rd concurent Filer (Texas service Center), day before yesterday received FP notice but no other reciepts. wrote email to Lawyer to update.
Guys, According to following URL, it seems that all july filers should get the RN by now irrespective of the processing centers. I am 24th July filer but still did not get the RNs so far. Are other ppl also in same boat? Please let me know. I am worried now.

Thanks for all the replies. Its a very good point that the medical wil get delayed as i have mine scheduled next thursday.

Also... You can submit your husbands work papers as you are a dependent.
If you are an engineer then definitely you should have an ecnr but you can have what ever is on your current passport

lots of delays for many applicants. I personally know 2 people waiting. One waiting for more than 2 months. Other one just about a month.....:eek:

If you are on H1B then your status is not AOS, IT IS H1B. When you do not extend your visa status and get onto EAD or your dependents' H4 expires without EAD, then the status becomes AOS in which case you need AP to travel.
I hope I am reading this incorrectly. Is USCIS now saying that any applicant on AOS must obtain an AP for travel, even if they are on H1B... The post above me is infintely correct if this is the case.. I hope I am wrong in my interpretation

Once you apply for I-485, you are in "adjustment of status" - an intermediate status. No H4 is required. However, you can work only if you have a work visa or EAD. In case of a student, if you have OPT, you are ok to work.

I just received my H1B starting Oct 1st. My desi (cheap) employer first decided to not pay me till Oct 15th because I didn't have a SSN. Then after my SSN came they decided that they wanted to reduce my salary, the reason being that the company's economic situation has changed since Jan filing.
I am concerned because I am going for my visa stamping in March and the last thing I want is to be out of status! When I mentioned this to my boss his answer was -- We will give you a letter stating that you are working reduced number of hours, and we cannot afford the salary promised on I-129.
Can somebody help? What are my options? I was on H4 and moved to H1. I am really frustrated with their attitude and in this economy it is really hard to find a job.
Any help would be great.

Spgtopper: I am referring to the same bill; specifically section 313. Its a bill that covers a lot of specific details, but seems to ignore current PhD candidates.
Logiclife: Wikipedia and others define "the physical sciences" to exclude life sciences. That is actaully the meaning of physical sciences, i.e. not biological sciences. It would seem stupid to exclude it, since so much of R&D is taking place in biotech etc.
And I believe if they wd have allowed the transfer of F1 to F4, they wd have mentioned it in teh bill. I think the above 2 facts have to be brought to the attention of lawmakers.

But I am a resident of Bhubaneswar.
I opted for Mumbai as it was going to be my port of entry.
Did not get any such warning or mail.
So not much trouble as far as the stamping was concerned.
Don't understand why they would try and compel you to move to your own district. This must be a recent thing.
Important question is, if they refuse to stamp at your first choice, how do you get the 2nd appointment at your own district? And will it be worth the trouble.
Sorry, don't know abt that.

Hi
I was under the impression that there would be some talks about the discussed bills on floor this week.I see no signs of any debate or any discussion.I have some read some posts saying that nothing would happen this year. This really confuses me as I had & I think many of us had hopes that coming weeks would decide something.
I would appreciate if someone could give everyone very clear picture of what going on ?

I too got transfer mails in April 2008. TSC to NSC to TSC. But when I last checked at infopass they said its at NSC. In April 2009, my approved I-140 is also transferred from TSC to NSC. Last month when I checked at infopass, they said 140 is in "Transit".

I have a friend holding a "Tourist Visa" and still back home. If an employer files I-140 for him, will that give him a risk of not allowed entry using Tourist Visa at the port of entry because he has an I-140 petition?
If he works for the same company abroad that filed for his i140, it should not be a problem. If he does not work and instead wants to come on a tourist visa, he might have problems.
